* The following press release is based on actual events in the Vrooman Household: Ohio Cat Gets Revenge--Mansfield Ohio, December, 2004--Kelly Vrooman (22) an actress in PA, received a disturbing phone call from her father, Ron Vrooman (48) of Mansfield. Through the crackling reception Ron devastatingly reported to his daughter, "And...I heard...noise...water...and there she was...Snowy... toilet...she taught herself!..." After reporting the dropped call to the automated customer service (a process that takes about 8 billion minutes) Kelly finally began to piece together the scraps of her father's desperate message. He had apparently been startled in his sleep by the sound of water running in the bathroom and upon checking the source, walked in on the family cat, "Snowy", using the toilet. "I've never seen her do it before," reported Ron, "And she's almost 13!" When asked to comment, Kathy Vrooman (50), was hesitant, "I always knew she was a smart cat, but now I think she's not really a cat at all." When asked to explain further, Kathy quickly ran away. Reed (6), the youngest member of the Vrooman Family is already selling "Snowy Stock" to the other children in his neighborhood and has accumulated enough money to buy school lunches through high school. Snowy was the last to comment, "Why didn't he just knock? I mean, come on, can't a girl get some privacy? And what better way is there to get revenge on the toilet-drinking family dog huh? Hee hee." After catching Snowy in the act 3 more times, the Vrooman Family has decided to sell their two middle sons, Ryan (21) and Robbie (18), and take Snowy's act on the road.

I think the hardest part about being an actor is going to be the constant shift in community. As soon as I get to know people, it is likely that I will have to leave them. Right now I have developed relationships with Karen at the coffee shop, Stephanie at the Post Office, James at the YMCA, Krissy at the Library and many others.
On Tuesday My friend Tim Shelton and I went to the Y early in the morning to work out before our call at 9:00 AM. At 6:30 A.M. everybody at the YMCA is over 65.
6:35 We walk in and are ritualistically greeted by James (a.k.a Jim) who serenades us with some of his own poetry and then asks us to sing "Mary Did You Know". The week before he had convinced us to sing Amazing Grace in the pool (both Tim and I sopping wet) while he accompanied us on his harmonica. People still talk about it. We gracously decline and head into the locker rooms to change into gym clothes.
7:00 I head into the weight/cardio room where I pick up the latest edition of Redbook and graze the cooking tips while working the treadmill.
7:15 I am greeted by Ed who is thoroughly confused by the new arrangement of the weight equipment and I help him get reorriented (not admitting that I too was baffled). I move to the bicycle and remember to check my heart rate.
7:30 James waltzes in and lovingly interrupts my reading/workout with a poem or two about his grandchildren.
7:45 I attempt to work a machine that works the upper thy, but it whips around and throws me off. I stand quickly and look around to be sure no one saw. I then file the story away in my brain in hopes that I can pull it out later for a quick laugh at a party.
8:00 I head to the locker room to change into my swim suit.
8:05 I enter the insanely warm pool water (the temperature is for the arthritic patients of the attached hospital) and am welcomed by Ed, Mary and Ann who all say "Here comes our free entertainment!" I chuckle then swim my laps.
8:25 the hot tub beckons and as I head in that direction, the life guard stops me to warn me that the man sitting in the hot tub is from the attached hospital and has been known to grope the women from time to time. I decide to wait for Tim to accompany me to the hot tub.
8:26. Tim and I chill in the hot tub as Ann tells us stories of her children (Last week James sang his "Bumble Bee"song).
8:35 I enter the locker room take a quick shower. While dressing I chat with the ladies about a bathing suit sale at one of the department stores.
8:45 Tim and I leave, but not before receiving a "Good Bye" poem from James.
What a great way to start the day.
